PROBLEM : To support the cinema release of Illumination’s The Grinch, Universal wanted to partner with a disruptive brand to create a Christmas Campaign that would engage a millennial audience and stand out from the rest. Universal approached Yolt, a smart thinking money app that encourages people to think differently – and more positively – about money.
SOLUTION : We created a full 360 campaign which included various themed competitions, and videos across all social channels.
I created the main video which was the hero for the campaign contained various comedic animations using various cuts from the Grinch film (2018) which tied in key features in the Yolt app, to famous traits of the Grinch. The campaign was hugely successful for both parties: for Yolt it raised brand awareness, with strong figures for click-through rates on Youtube (which converted into app downloads), and for Universal, the film went on to significantly outperform its Christmas competition.
