PROBLEM : VSCO sought to establish a robust system for creating diverse yet cohesive motion templates for showcasing image sequences in short-form social media content. These templates would serve as a creative resource for external parties, ensuring consistent brand presentation and messaging across various VSCO content.
SOLUTION : Four core templates were designed to address specific content categories: Creator Sessions, Presets, Pro Spotlights, and Selects. We built a comprehensive animation guide in Figma, outlining detailed animation instructions for core brand elements. This included animation styles for the VSCO logo, iconography, and typography, ensuring visual consistency across all templates. Each template was storyboarded, defining its unique visual style while maintaining a standardized sequence structure. This structure included an animated cover, content transition, image/video gallery, and an end card. Following approval, the design was handed off to a freelance animation team for template development in After Effects. The guide was completed by incorporating example renders showcasing the animation style of each template.
The final animation guide ensures consistent visual presentation across all motion templates, strengthening brand recognition.
It empowers external creative teams with clear instructions and inspiration, facilitating efficient content creation. The four distinct templates provide flexibility to showcase various content types within a unified aesthetic.
